Why Reading Manga is so Much Fun
Im a pretty big reader in general but if im being honest, I noticed that ive enjoyed reading manga the most.
Something about the comic structure with its paneling and unique artwork really appeals to me. But I believe that anyone can get into manga. If you like comic books, you’ll like manga. Most people think of anime when they hear manga and this is fundamentally wrong. When you read manga it feels like the author is directly telling you a story that they have created. But I’ll hold off on comparing it to anime too much, for that could be a topic on its own, and I could talk about it for days upon days.
Reading it is astonishingly easier than reading anything else. Its easily streamlined and absorbed since the pages aren’t loaded with dialogue and content.
What also makes it more appealing to me is the infinite amount of options you have. Each artist will have a completely different style of drawing, so you can base which ones youd want to try out over which styles appeal to you.
Speed reading – being able to streamline through a story. Sometimes I like to give my imagination a rest. When a novel explains the setting atmospheres and characters its good, because there’s some level of imagination and immersion that need to be there that make me invested and interested in the story. But sometimes I just like to be a lazy slob and lay back and have people feed that stuff to me. I can ascertain the tones, backgrounds and I can see everything that’s going on since its all drawn out and laid in front of me. Which gives comics a sort of relaxing feel, where I don’t feel like I have to be too attentive so that I wont miss anything. I can understand everything that’s going on from just a glance.
Sometimes, giving your brain a break is a good thing.
